Located in Atami, a well known ONSEN (Hot Spring) resort just 40 minutes ​away from the buzzing city of TOKYO, Tsuki no Michi is a private art salon ​showcasing the work of talented Japan based artists and makers.

We have renovated a house which was built 40 years ago and decorated and ​furnished the entire house with a specific focus on Japanese art and craft. ​While it is designed to keep authentic Japanese style with tatami, Japanese ​paper wall and so forth, it is elevated to become one-of-a-kind gallery-like ​space yet maintaining comfortable, welcoming atmosphere of a traditional ​Japanese style house.

We are planning to hold a gathering for art lovers and artists.

The “moon path”is a lengthened reflection of the moon on water that can be ​seen only a few days a month, a few days before and after the full moon.

It is said that because Atami has a difference in elevation, we can enjoy a very ​beautiful long and narrow path of light.

Since the name of our company is Michi (path), we named our place ​“Tukinomichi (moon path)” and incorporated various art and interior design ​of the moon as its theme.

The moon represents female energy. We hope to create such a peaceful place ​that illuminates the surroundings with a gentle, soft light in these rapidly ​changing times.

My passion is art, craft and Japanese culture.

I have been painting art for many years and have long been in love with Japanese culture in general ​(playing Koto, Tea Ceremony, Kimono, collecting Japanese craftmanship art pieces etc.)

I also love ONSEN and have been visiting ATAMI for ONSEN retreat on holidays for decades and finally ​found this 40 years old home, renovated the place as ATAMI ART SALON to showcase art craft and ​everything that I think deserves more attention.

The renovation was led by an architect and designer NATSUKO YUGE.

She has also curated art and thanks to her aesthetic sense and attention to every ​little detail, the outcome was beyond our expectation.

The construction work was done by Wakai komuten in Atami, which has a ​reputation for building high-quality villa and resort homes.

千 田 崇 統 「かぐやの旋律」

Senda Takanori (Kaguya Melody)

日中の様子との対比。夜に照明をつけると幻想的な月が浮き上がり、景色が変わります。

Contrast with the daytime view. When lighting is turned on at night, a mystical moon appears vividly, changing the scenery.

かぐやの旋律は、月の女神かぐや姫が紡ぐ音なき調べを表現した作品である。

月の光は、静けさの中に無限の物語を秘めている。 和紙の繊細な質感と柔らかな光の​コントラストは、月が夜空を照らし、静かに地上へ語りかける 様を映し出す。 熱海の​「月光道」は、満月の前後数日間に海面に現れる月の道で、ムーンロードとも呼ばれ​る、 神秘的な自然現象とされている。 これを元に作品のイメージを構築していった。 ​和紙の制作は、流し込みという技法による多層構造の紙を、厚薄の調整、光の濃淡の調​整を行っ た。また落水という和紙の技法である、濡れた和紙に対して水を落とし模様​をつける技法があ る。その技法を光のプリズム、竹炭の夜空に採用している。

アートワークであると同時に住空間を共にする素材としての役割もあることから、浄化​作用のあ る竹炭を、楮繊維と絡ませ流し込み夜空を、光のプリズムはアバカという、​別名「糸芭蕉」 と呼ばれる植物の素材感を活かし光のプリズムを表現した。

和紙＝植物（靭皮繊維）であり有機的なものである。本作品は全て自然に還る素材で構​成されて いる。 かぐやの旋律という柔らかな光の波動が紙の世界を飛び出し、現世界​の人達の自分を生きる物語 へと響き渡ることを願って、本作品を捧げます。

原料：楮、アバカ（マニラ麻、糸芭蕉）、竹炭

The Kaguya Melody is a work that expresses the soundless melody spun by the moon ​goddess Kaguyahime.

The light of the moon holds an infinite story within its serenity. The contrast between ​the delicate texture of the washi paper and the soft light reflects the way the moon ​illuminates the night sky and quietly speaks to the earth.

The “moonlit road” in Atami is a lunar path that appears on the surface of the sea ​during the days before and after the full moon, also known as the moon road, and is ​considered a mysterious natural phenomenon. This was the basis for the image of the ​work. A technique called nagashikomi (pouring) was used to create a multi-layered paper ​structure, adjusting the thickness and shading of the light. Another washi technique ​called ochimizu, in which water is dropped onto wet washi to create a pattern, is used to ​create a prism of light and the bamboo charcoal night sky.

Since it is an artwork to be displayed in the living space, bamboo charcoal, which has air ​purifying effect is intertwined with Kozo fibers and poured in to express the night sky.

The prism of light is expressed by utilizing the texture of abaca, also known as “ito-​basho” plant.

Washi is plant (ligament fiber) and organic. This work is composed entirely of materials ​that can be returned to nature. The work is dedicated in the hope that the soft waves of ​light, the melody of Kaguya, will fly out of the world of washi paper and echo through ​the lives of people in the real world.

Raw materials: Kozo (paper mulberry), abaca (Manila hemp, skunk cabbage), bamboo ​charcoal

千 田 崇 統

岐阜県美濃市在住。青山学院大学卒業後、ロンドンへ2年間遊学。都会での暮らしに違和感を感​じ、南米ペルーのアマゾン、アンデスの民族の元へ。手仕事、自然と共に暮らす生き方に共鳴。

偶然と必然が重なり和紙の道へ。

伝統的な美濃手漉き和紙の技術を土台として、新たな和紙の表現としてアート和紙の世界を開拓。

芸術面で高い評価を受ける。店舗、ホテル、住宅に作品多数展示。2022年合同会社warabee共同​設立。

Senda Takanori

Lives and works in Mino City, Gifu Prefecture.

After graduating from Aoyama Gakuin University, studied in London for two years. ​Feeling a sense of discomfort with city life, he moved to the Amazon in Peru, South ​America, to be with the Andean people, whose handcrafts and way of life living with ​nature resonated with him.

Through a combination of coincidence and necessity, he became washi (Japanese paper) ​craftsman. Based on the traditional Mino handmade washi technique, he pioneered the ​world of art washi as a new expression of washi.

He has received high acclaim on the artistic use of washi.

In 2022, he co-founded warabee.

鷲巣　恭一郎 「茶園俯瞰図 小道」-ちゃえんふかんず こみち-　

WASHIZU KYOICHIRO (Tea field Overview Pathway)

静岡の美しい茶園を上空から見下ろした風景を図案にしたものです。

テーマの小道は人生そのものを表しています。

茶畑から道となり雲へ。空間がシームレスに繋がっていく様子は、人間は本来、想うまま​自由に生きることができるという意味を込めました。

月は茶畑の有機的な揺らぎに対する対比の意味を込め、シャープなラインで表現し、静か​に人生を照らし讃えています。

The design is based on a view of a beautiful tea field in Shizuoka, as seen from above.

The theme of the pathway represents life itself.

From the tea field to the pathway to the clouds. The seamless connection of space ​represents the idea that humans are inherently free to live as they wish.

The moon is expressed in sharp lines as a contrast to the organic fluctuation of the tea ​field, quietly illuminating and celebrating life.

Tea Dyeing - (stencil dyeing using vegetable dyes)

He began researching “tea dyeing” using discarded parts of the tea production process, ​a key industry in Shizuoka, and is currently working to create a tea-dyeing culture.
